In exciting matches played on Friday, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) and Pakistan Television (PTV) secured their spots in the semifinals of the President One-Day Cup. Both teams delivered strong performances to advance further in the tournament.
SNGPL faced the Oil and Gas Development Company (OGDC) and successfully chased down their target of 248 runs with 6 wickets in hand. Tahir Baig stood out with an impressive knock of 95 runs, while Umer Bin Yousuf remained unbeaten on 80, guiding his team to a comfortable win. Their calm yet aggressive approach helped them chase the total smoothly.
On the other hand, PTV battled Ishal Associates and chased their target of 220 runs with 2 wickets remaining. Faheem Ashraf’s outstanding innings of 85 runs played a key role in helping his team cross the finish line, as his quick runs came at a crucial time when the game seemed tight.
Following the conclusion of the group stage, the four teams moving forward to the semifinals are Wapda, State Bank, PTV, and SNGPL. Wapda and State Bank qualified from Group A, while PTV and SNGPL advanced from Group B. These teams will now compete for a spot in the final.
The semifinals are scheduled to take place at Jinnah Stadium in Gujranwala. On October 13, Wapda, the top team from Group A, will take on SNGPL, the runners-up of Group B, in the first semifinal. The second semifinal will be held on October 14, featuring Group A’s runners-up State Bank, and Group B’s top team, PTV.
The final of the President One-Day Cup is set for October 16, where the two best teams will battle it out for the title at the same venue. With strong teams in the semifinals, the competition is expected to be thrilling, and cricket fans eagerly await to see which team will emerge victorious.
